Summer Planning for Safe Cycling

This summer, we have a lot of planning underway. Our vision is to see infrastructure that supports safer biking. Cycle Sanpete has assisted Ephraim City in obtaining planning assistance through Bike Utah to create an active transportation plan. This involves committee meetings, community input and engagement, and eventually a proposal that will be presented to the city council. One thing we love about Bike Utah is their commitment to high safety standards. We are really excited about this project, and if you would like to learn more, please feel free to reach out to Cycle Sanpete or to the Ephraim Recreation Department. Their recreation director (Ephraim City in general) is eager to work towards a safer cycling community.

Cycle Sanpete also helped Manti City obtain planning assistance through Bike Utah for planning safe routes to school. The goal is to work towards making it safer for families to get to the elementary school. How cool would it be to see more kids with their parents walking and biking to school? We envision a day where that is the primary choice for getting to school. If you would like to give your input on streets or areas that need improvement in Manti to create a robust safe routes to school plan, please visit this link to share your feedback: https://arcg.is/1a9SHf0 Here are some tips for using the map! Use the interactive map to indicate areas that you think pose possible dangers to kids walking and biking to school. You can do this by using the plus and minus signs on the left to zoom in and out of the map. You can use your mouse to navigate the map area. To draw, use the line tool on the right side of the map. Double click to finish drawing, click the pencil icon to edit, and start over by using the garbage icon. Additionally, please leave any comments you have about why you chose those dangerous routes, and any other thoughts or concerns about possible safe routes to school. We are really grateful for our community. Our mayors, city councils, and county have been amazingly supportive of infrastructure that supports safe cycling.
