Bike Paths are Coming to Sanpete County

Updated: Feb 1

One thing is certain: UDOT is planning multi-use bike paths in Sanpete County! These paths will extend all the way up to Indianola and down to Axtell, primarily alongside US89, though some areas will take you on quieter back roads. Routes will also go through Fayette, Gunnison to Mayfield, Mayfield to Sterling, Wales to Fountain Green, Wales to Chester to Spring City, and from Moroni to Freedom. In fact, in due time, you will be able to ride a bike all the way up to Day Break and down to Capitol Reef! You can see the interactive map on Utah’s 2023-2050 Unified Transportation Plan website.

One thing is certain: UDOT is investing in multi-use bike paths in Sanpete County! These paths will extend all the way up to Indianola and down to Axtell, primarily alongside US89, though some areas will take you on quieter back roads. Looking Ahead Keep in mind that a feasibility study is still underway to map out the route from Fairview to Gunnison, which will continue to enhance and shape the route. UDOT has hired a project manager, and the project manager will be hiring the right engineers to complete the study. These engineers will likely hold a community workshop to gain valuable community insights that will further fine-tune the route. When the study is done, we hope the timeline for construction is accelerated!   Giving Thanks We cannot express enough gratitude to UDOT, our Governor, and all of our wonderful Mayors, city council members, and county commissioners. We have an incredible community made up of some really ambitious leaders. Please reach out to your local mayor to say thank you. We really wouldn’t be here without their support! I also want to thank everyone who has come to a community ride or activity, donated, shared a post on social media, or talked positively about the project. Your involvement has also made this project possible. If you feel inspired, follow Cycle Sanpete on Instagram for new, exclusive updates.
